Two rearing horses unfold here in a contained, almost choreographic energy. The image does not oppose two forces: it intertwines them. The bodies respond to each other with broad curves, necks turned towards one another, rounded rumps, and limbs reduced to nervous lines, as if the artist sought less to describe the animal than to capture the moment of tension where form becomes movement.
