A considered assessment of your work

I assess your paintings by examining the artist or school, signature, technique, subject, dimensions, condition and available provenance. Swiss painting and landscapes of Lake Geneva are a particular focus of the gallery, alongside selected European works.

A reasoned valuation and a well-founded price

I consider the individual qualities of your painting and, where available, comparable sale results. I explain the estimated range and agree the asking price with you within that range.

Photographs allow an initial assessment. Examining the original may refine the valuation; authentication requiring an artist specialist is a separate process.

OUTRIGHT PURCHASE

Sell directly to Swiss Art Gallery.

For paintings that suit its selection, the gallery may make a purchase offer after seeing and examining the original in person. The purchase price is agreed with you. This lets you sell to the gallery without waiting for it to find a collector.

A purchase offer follows an in-person examination of the painting.

Entrust me with the work. I organise its sale.

Your painting is placed at the gallery, where I present it to art lovers and collectors. I prepare its presentation and handle enquiries from prospective buyers. You remain the owner until it is sold.

We agree the price and consignment arrangements before offering the work for sale.

A transparent, sliding commission

One commission covers the complete service. The higher the sale value, the lower the commission rate. Careful storage at the gallery throughout the agreed consignment period is included.

Before entrusting me with your painting

Can I ask for an assessment without selling?

Yes. You can contact me to discuss your painting. An enquiry does not commit you to an outright sale or a consignment.

Do you accept every painting?

Each work is considered individually, taking account of its artistic interest, condition, evidence of attribution and suitability for the gallery’s selection.

How do we decide on a price?

I discuss the valuation and available market comparisons with you. A listing requires agreement on a price within that estimated range.

How does the consignment commission work?

The rate decreases with the sale price: 20% below CHF 1,000, 15% from CHF 1,000 to below CHF 10,000 and 10% from CHF 10,000. It covers the complete service, including careful storage at the gallery for the agreed period, documentation, presentation, promotion and sales support through completion.
