About the artwork
Stylized faces interact in a square composition in which the forms seem to fit together and overlap. The circular eyes, noses reduced to signs and simplified profiles create a whole that is both figurative and abstract. No figure stands out as a single subject: the eye moves from one face to another, guided by the curves and diagonals that cross the surface.
The construction is based on a network of black outlines, curved bands and triangles. Geometric patterns frame the faces, while luminous areas of yellow and ochre contrast with reds, browns and blacks. A broad, light-coloured, arched form crosses the upper section and connects the various elements. The contrasts lend rhythm to the composition and set the figures between presence and interlocking, without naturalistic depth.
The drawing is crisp and deliberately simplified. Thick lines define precisely edged fields of colour; black patterns, circles and crescent shapes recur as visual signs. Through its fragmentation and the coexistence of profiles and frontal views, the work evokes a Cubist sensibility. The warm palette gives the scene a strong presence, balanced by areas of cream and black accents.
Made with sand on canvas, the work measures 100 × 100 cm and is presented unframed. It is signed and dated “DIME 2025” at the bottom right.
In a contemporary living room with light-coloured walls, this square composition would sit well above a low piece of furniture or on a clear stretch of wall. Its ochres, reds and yellows would warm the space, while its graphic forms would provide a confident visual accent.
