Ignat Bednarik (1882–1963) was a Romanian artist born in Orșova who died in Bucharest. His practice brought together painting, illustration and decorative art, an area in which he also worked with Elena Bednarik. Watercolour has a central place in this activity, allowing him to address both the human figure and floral subjects. The Museum of Vrancea preserves a reading soldier dated 1918, made in watercolour with traces of pencil on cardboard. A few years later, Mimosa, dated 1922, records his interest in flowers. Moving between observations of human life and studies of plants, these works offer an insight into the variety of subjects he explored on paper.
This profile brings together identity references for Ignat Bednarik and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
