Pol Bury (1922–2005), a Belgian artist, practised painting and sculpture, and created jewellery.
A watercolour entitled Untitled, dated 1950, measures 465 × 290 mm; it is signed and dated “Bury, 50” at the lower left. The sale entry links this work to several exhibitions devoted to Cobra: at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo in 1986, in Caracas the same year, in Stockholm and Malmö between 1986 and 1987, and then at the Musée d’art moderne et d’Art contemporain de Liège in 1993. It also notes a colour reproduction of the watercolour in the catalogue De taal van Cobra: Museumcollectie van Stuivenberg, published by the Cobra Museum voor Moderne Kunst in 1996.
This profile brings together identity references for Pol Bury and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
