Painter and watercolorist Lucien Philippe Adrion (1889–1953), born in Strasbourg and died in Paris, initially pursues a professional career in drawing. He begins as a technical draftsman in Strasbourg, then works in Paris as a fashion illustrator in 1907.
During a stay in England and Berlin, he learns engraving and works as an apprentice to Hermann Struck. On his return to Strasbourg in 1909, he works in lithography: his career thus takes him through several professions in drawing and printmaking.
In 1919, he settles in Montparnasse, where he remains until his death in 1953. His participation in the Salon des Indépendants in Paris is recorded in 1941. A retrospective of his work is subsequently recorded in Cologne in 1973.
