Émile Charles Lambinet (1815–1877), a French painter born in Versailles and who died in Bougival, devoted himself primarily to landscape painting. The biographical entry identifies him as a pupil of Horace Vernet, Antoine-Félix Boisselier and then Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot; Getty ULAN also lists Martin Drölling among his teachers. His career remained linked to the Yvelines: he first lived in Versailles, his birthplace, then settled in Bougival from 1860. He was awarded the Légion d’honneur in 1867.
Public collections hold landscapes spanning several decades of his work. The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Reims owns, among others, Cottage by the Water (1854) and Landscape with a Watercourse (1856); the Musée Lambinet in Versailles holds Fishermen by a Pond (1860) and The Château des Roches at Bièvres (1874). The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, includes Farmyard (1862), Seaside Village (1866), Path through the Fields (1872) and Fishing on the Banks of the Seine (1872): titles that reveal rural and village motifs alongside waterscapes. The paintings at the Musée Lambinet were the subject of a book published in 2005 by Somogy and the museum.
