Fahrelnissa Zeid’s practice is documented by large abstract canvases shown in New York in the 1950s, followed by the works titled *Paléokrystalos*, in which she incorporates painted poultry bones in the late 1960s. In 1919, she entered the Academy of Fine Arts of Constantinople, where she is described as one of the first women to study. After studying in Paris at the Académie Ranson with Roger Bissière in 1928, she resumed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts on her return to Istanbul in 1929.
Her first solo exhibition took place in her apartment in Maçka, Istanbul; her work was subsequently shown in London and Paris. In 1952, the list of her exhibitions includes, among others, Galerie 16 in Zurich and Kunsthalle Bern. Her former student Adila Laïdi-Hanieh devoted the 2017 biography *Fahrelnissa Zeid: Painter of Inner Worlds* to her.
