Hugo Ungewitter’s career combines official recognition with a journey to Abyssinia: the Berlin court awarded him the title of professor in 1913, and he then travelled to Abyssinia in 1924. There he produced numerous sketches and studies; his travel memories were published in 1926 under the title “Als Maler in Abessinien”.
