According to Carel van Mander, Sébastien Vrancx was apprenticed to Adam van Noort. His collaborations with Jan Brueghel the Elder distinguish the roles: Brueghel painted the landscapes, while Vrancx painted the figures.
In Beaune, the Musée des Beaux-Arts holds three paintings devoted to the League of the Beggars: Skirmish, The Fight and The Halt, each measuring 40 × 61 cm. Other works are recorded in museum collections: The Gardens of the Villa Medici, dated 1615, at the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples, and the View of the Crane Head in Antwerp in Winter, dated 1622, at the Rijksmuseum. His pupil Peeter Snayers imitated and developed his style.
