Stefan Hoenerloh
Stefan Hoenerloh, born in Karlsruhe in 1960, develops painting in which architecture becomes a means of experiencing the passage of time. His biography records his move to Berlin in 1980. His invented buildings and urban spaces combine rigorous perspective, weathered surfaces and contrasts of light; the absence of activity intensifies their isolation. Galerie Richard emphasises that these architectures convey reflections on society alongside painterly investigations. R 46, an oil painting on wood dated 1989, documents an early stage of his production. Exhibitions in Paris, London and Milan mark his subsequent career. In 2017 he exhibited with Sven-Ole Frahm in Short History of the Modernist Painting at Galerie Richard in New York.
