Born in Milan in 1935, Lucio Pozzi studied architecture in Rome before settling in the United States in 1962. His activity combines several media, from painting to video. The Museum of Modern Art presented his videos in its Projects series in 1978. It also holds 8 May 1973, a drawing in which charcoal, pencil and ink bring different qualities of mark together on a single sheet.
In the Relocation works, a section of a painted panel is removed and reattached elsewhere in the composition, altering relationships between its parts. Printmaking provides another field of investigation. The Grass Maze, a 1997 lithograph held by the Whitney Museum, belongs to the American Abstract Artists sixtieth-anniversary portfolio and was printed at the Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper.
This profile brings together identity references for Lucio Pozzi and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
