Frank-Will (1900–1950), born Frank William Boggs in Nanterre, was a French painter and watercolourist, and the son of the painter Frank Boggs. He abandoned architectural studies to pursue painting and focused particularly on watercolour from 1916. After using several different signatures, he worked under the name Frank-Will. A friend of Gen Paul and Marcel Leprin, he belonged to Montmartre’s artistic community. Paris was a central subject: its streets, quays and monuments supplied motifs for his compositions, some of which were reproduced as postcards by the publishers Barré et Dayez after 1925. Visits to Normandy in 1922, La Rochelle in 1926 and Barfleur in 1930 broadened his repertoire to include harbours and coastlines. Tall ships and galleons became recurring subjects, sometimes appearing in imaginary naval battles. He died in Clichy in 1950, aged fifty.
