French painter born in Talence in 1872 and died in Paris in 1943, Dominique-Paul Peyronnet is often classified among the naïve painters, a designation that informs the reading of his work without, on its own, summarising his approach. His career begins in the world of printing: a printing worker, he settles in Paris in 1902 and specialises in colour lithography. He does not begin painting until 1920. After a few works described as Impressionist, he develops an approach attentive to the precision of detail in the scenes he depicts.
His submissions to the Salons des Indépendants of 1932 and 1934 mark his presence in Parisian artistic life. Maximilien Gauthier and Cécile Gregory introduce him to Wilhelm Uhde. In 1937, several of his works are included in the exhibition «Les Maîtres populaires de la réalité».
