Johan Pietersz. Schoeff, also known as Johannes Schoeff, was a landscape painter active in the seventeenth-century Netherlands. He lived in The Hague, where Jan van Goyen was his neighbour, and also traded in paintings. His career took him to the vicinity of Antwerp and to Bergen op Zoom, connecting several artistic centres in the historic Low Countries.
His compositions favour distant views, river scenery and wooded landscapes, often unified by brown tones ranging from yellowish to olive shades. River View of 1651 in the Rijksmuseum depicts a waterway bordered by trees. The Spencer Museum of Art holds Landscape with Figures, dated 1644. Another landscape with figures, painted on wood in 1645, appears in the Deutsches Historisches Museum’s documentation of the Linz collection.
