Gregory Masurovsky (1929–2009) developed a body of drawings and prints in which the artist’s book held a lasting place. He attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in 1954–1955 and received awards for drawing and printmaking at the Paris Biennales of 1961 and 1963 respectively. He participated in documenta III in 1964. From 1965, a regular collaboration with Michel Butor brought his images together with the writer’s poems, notably in Comme Shirley and Les petits miroirs. Etching accompanied drawing in his practice, while a stay at the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in 1969 added another technical dimension. In 1995, he learned to set metal type and began publishing books under the name Éditions Liancourt.
