Born in Cairo in 1941 and deceased in 2008, Opy Zouni was a Greek artist who lived and worked in Athens from 1963 onwards. According to Artsper, her family roots lie in Crete and Santorini.
At the heart of her practice is the passage from two to three dimensions and from enclosed to open space. To explore these relationships, she uses geometric forms and vivid colours in an atmosphere described as lyrical. Light, shadow, movement and perspective structure this universe; the absence of human figures helps convey the vastness of the spaces. Artsper credits her with more than thirty-three solo exhibitions and thirty-seven group exhibitions, attesting to sustained exhibition activity. The same source states that her works are held in museums and private collections, without specifying their names.
This profile brings together identity references for Opy Zouni and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
