Fleurs et fruits dans la lumière

This floral composition unfolds a dense, almost incandescent bouquet, whose volumes seem to float in a dark space. Pale, pink and red flowers emerge in pools of light, while golden stems and foliage draw around them a kind of broad rotation, as though the motif were beginning to move in the shadows. The supple, slightly hazy material softens the contours and lends the scene a dreamlike quality: the image is not a botanical inventory, but an apparition. Clusters of fruit, crumpled petals and sweeping vegetal curves construct a highly animated, almost musical still life, in which colour plays the leading role. The white and gold frame reinforces the impression of a painting offered for display, a precious envelope for a work that rests on the contrast between black depth and luminous flashes. On the reverse, the exhibition label and handwritten marks indicate an earlier exhibition history, giving the work a tangible historical presence, without, however, fixing its original title.
