Raffaello Albertolli

Born in 1770.

Died in 1812.

Raffaello Albertolli’s work ranges from engraved portraits to plates intended for the teaching of drawing. Comanducci’s entry reports that he worked in engraving and aquatint, producing portraits and various plates brought together in a miscellany, as well as numerous studies after the antique for young draughtsmen.

It also describes him as his father’s assistant in the chair of decoration at the Accademia di Brera.

A catalogue entry for a copy of the Miscellanea per i giovani studiosi del disegno attributes several plates to him, some of which bear the dates 1793 and 1794; several are noted as printed in sepia. Comanducci’s entry also mentions him as a collaborator with his cousin Ferdinando Albertolli on the intaglio plate Le solenni esequie di Mons. Visconti.

Among the prints it records are the Ritratto di Pietro Moscati, an oval portrait dated 1797, and a S. Giuseppe after Reni.
