Martine Clerc

Born in 1941.

Martine Clerc develops a language centred on concrete, structured around geometric modules, the use of silhouettes, and the themes of the individual and the group, the feminine and the masculine, as well as the metamorphosis of the stages of life.

A travelling exhibition entitled « Les visages de Martine Clerc » presents 26 of the 32 works from a departmental collection.

The proposal is described as a turnkey rental comprising 26 works accompanied by their labels, exhibition equipment (25 display cases—bells and plinths), a presentation booklet, and museographic support for adapting the project.

The brochure associates the artist with the wording « ARTISTE PLASTICIENNE 1951 - 2007 », a statement displayed without clarification as to its significance.

In publishing, Martine Clerc provided drawings, pastels, or prints for several publications, notably Noces de rocher (drawings, Éditions Empreintes, Lausanne, 1993), Sur la lumière en Anniviers (drawings, Éditions Empreintes, Moudon, 2003), and Forêt jurée (pastels, Éditions Empreintes, 2008); she also appears in collaborations cited in connection with Pierre‑Alain Tâche (Les Yeux du temps, 1988; Le Dit d'Orta, 1985).

Pierre‑Alain Tâche’s biographical notice states that he has been married to the painter Martine Clerc since 1965.
