Marius Brühlmeier
Born in 1954.
Marius Brühlmeier (1954) develops a distinctly non-figurative body of work in which abstraction is explicitly presented as a means of formulating more precise statements.
According to the gallery notice, his working method unfolds in three successive stages. He begins with a non-figurative drawing that establishes the work’s initial structure. Watercolour is then used to add colour and depth to this graphic foundation.
The final phase consists of an execution in oil or acrylic, completing the pictorial surface. The artist works in series and, within a given series, format and technique remain constant.
The gallery presented Brühlmeier in a group exhibition at Galerie 94 (Baden), scheduled from 2 February to 9 March 2024. The presentation was accompanied by a vernissage on 1 February 2024 and an Artist Talk on 24 February 2024, as announced in the programme. The same programme places the artist among the «lokalen KünstlerInnen» of the Merker-Areal, a geographical and professional connection indicated by the gallery.
