Louisa Gagliardi

Born in 1989.

Louisa Gagliardi’s documented singularity lies in a painterly practice described as “reflections”, which places the artist’s inner experience in relation to that of the viewer, while also questioning the technological acceleration of visual and social worlds. This conceptual logic is manifested through recurrent choices of supports and materials—inks and gel medium on PVC, sometimes applied with cosmetic materials (nail polish, nail polish remover) and precious inserts (24k gold leaf)—as well as through the occasional use of reflective surfaces such as mirror aluminium.

Recent large-scale work: Vats, dated 2026, ink on PVC, 200 × 300 cm. Multipart work: Weather Vane / Tractor, ink on PVC, comprising 6 parts with stated overall dimensions of 400 × 900 cm. Common Enemies (2025)—listed materials: nail polish, gel medium, ink on PVC; dimensions 200 × 160 cm.

Cats and Dogs (2025)—24k gold leaf, nail polish remover, ink on PVC; 90 × 150 cm. Voluntary Prisoner (2024)—gel medium and ink on PVC; 200 × 170 cm. Rendezvous (2023)—stated dimensions 235 × 300 × 4.5 cm (the technique is not repeated in the corresponding entry).

Earlier examples (2021): Taking a Dip—nail polish, gel medium, ink on PVC, 160 × 115 cm; In the Heat of the Night—gel medium, ink on PVC, 150 × 115 cm. Back and Forth 5—ink on mirror aluminium, Dibond; 120 × 140 cm.
