Heinz Allemann
Born in 1955.
He obtains the title of master printer specialising in original printmaking and trains in Eriswil with Franz Eggenschwiler, first as an apprentice, then as an assistant and finally as a student; he subsequently works alongside him for many years. The article introducing him also states that he sits on the board of the Franz and Rosemarie Eggenschwiler-Wiggli Foundation and contributes to its objectives.
His practice explores and combines different techniques, sometimes returning to the same subject until it becomes the starting point for a serial organisation of images. In works based on models by Heinz-Peter Kohler, Allemann varies and transforms motifs through woodcut and linocut, in violet or black; Kohler then works over them in watercolour. Another series takes as its subject a small press portrait depicting a Harlequin: enlarged on a computer, the image is either painted in oil on canvas or printed in pigment and then reworked pictorially; Allemann also explores it through digital processing.
In 2014, he presents painting and multimedia works with Kohler at the Freitagsgalerie in Solothurn, in an exhibition announced to run until 24 May.
