Christoph Büchel
Born in 1966.
He works primarily through large-scale installations, and his body of work is described as having an engaged and political dimension; one presentation text states that he «excels in gigantic installations».
In 2007, he presented a permanent installation entitled «Tribunal» at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Basel. In 2008, he showed a solo exhibition entitled «Deutsche Grammatik» at the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel. Other documented projects include the project «Under Destruction» (2004, MNAC, Palace of the People, Bucharest, with G.
Motti), the exhibition «Hole» (2005, Kunsthalle Basel), and «Haus der Erholung» (2003, Museum am Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach).
He has also undertaken curatorial roles, notably for an exhibition entitled «Verlust der Mitte», identified as «curated by Christoph Büchel» on the S.M.A.K. website; the page retained online bears a 2026 copyright notice.
