Andreas Achermann

Born in Ettiswil, Lucerne, Suisse on 27 July 1958.

Died on 01.1987.

Swiss · Painting and mixed media · figurative world of mythical creatures

Andreas Achermann (Ettiswil, 27 July 1958 – January 1987) was a Swiss painter. SIK-ISEA explicitly records him as a painter clearly distinguishing the visual artist from namesakes active in other fields.

Although his career was cut short, his work is documented by several institutional sources. In 2014, art historian Bettina Staub devoted a study to him in Heimatkunde Wiggertal under the title “Andreas Achermann: Entwurf einer ‘Gegenwelt’”, placing his work within the artistic history of the region.

Achermann held a solo exhibition at Galerie Waldstätterstrasse 31 in Lucerne in 1985. A significant museum reference is provided by Museum Luzern: in 2026 it included two works by Achermann in “Sichtbar! Tiere aus dem Kunstdepot”, a presentation drawn from the Canton of Lucerne art collection.

Both undated works are entitled “Fabeltier” and executed in pastel and dispersion on packing paper. They provide a precise material reference for his visual language: mixed media, an ordinary support and the motif of a mythical creature correspond closely to the idea of a “Gegenwelt” highlighted by Bettina Staub. The Museum Luzern exhibition runs from 2 April 2026 to 21 February 2027.

The brevity of his career helps explain the relative scarcity of documentation. No sufficiently coherent auction corpus is retained here. Study of his work therefore relies primarily on SIK-ISEA, the Lucerne cantonal art collection, exhibition archives and specialist bibliography.
