Born in Romans, in the Drôme department, in 1904, Henri Mège died in Chambéry in 1984. He learned to paint from his mother, Isabelle Mège, who was also a painter.
Pursuing a military career, he travelled to Indochina in 1931. During his stay, he came into contact with Emperor Bảo Đại. He also became friends with the painter Mai Thu. From 1950 to 1956, he taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Saigon.
Vietnamese landscapes were among his preferred subjects, including rivers, valleys and boats on waterways. After returning to France, he settled in Chambéry and depicted Lake Bourget, the surrounding area and Alpine terrain. One source states that he became a member of the Société savoisienne des Beaux-Arts after his return.
