Born in Melun in 1963, Jean-Pierre Nadau initially turned towards theatre and music. He attended the Cours Dullin before meeting Chomo in 1984; he subsequently joined Clovis Prévost in filming Le débarquement spirituel. His earliest small drawings in black and white preceded the development of compositions on long rolls of paper.
Working in Morillon, Nadau uses pen and ink. Imaginary architecture, figures and inscriptions occupy surfaces that can reach ten metres in length. The precision of the line supports this narrative proliferation, whose subjects include races and gardens. Amazonie, dated 2007, belongs to the American Folk Art Museum's collection. Its title offers a geographical point of entry into a world where drawing establishes its own density and pathways across an expanding field of imagery.
This profile brings together identity references for Jean-Pierre Nadau and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
