Nikolay Diulgheroff

Born : 1901Died : 1982Documented citizenships : Bulgaria

Born in Bulgaria, Nicolay Diulgheroff (1901–1982) developed a practice in Turin spanning painting, architecture and the applied arts. He studied in Vienna, Dresden and at the Bauhaus in Weimar before settling in Turin in 1926 and receiving his architecture diploma in 1932. Associated with Fillia and second-wave Futurism, he participated in the Venice Biennales of 1928 and 1930. His work extended to furniture, lighting, ceramics and advertising graphics, including designs for Amaro Cora. In 1931 he furnished the Taverna del Santopalato together with Fillia. The Casa Atelier Mazzotti, designed in Albissola Marina in 1931–1932, brought his concerns into inhabited space. His 1976 series Marinetti Rotante in Divenire demonstrates his enduring engagement with the Futurist legacy.
