Beppe Ciardi

Born : 1875Died : 1932

Beppe Ciardi, whose given name was Giuseppe, was born in Venice in 1875 and died in Quinto di Treviso in 1932. The son of painter Guglielmo Ciardi, he trained with his father before studying figure painting with Ettore Tito at the Venice Academy. His career encompassed Venetian rural landscapes, views of the lagoon and participation in the Biennales.

The Galleria Giannoni in Novara holds In porto, an oil on canvas dated approximately 1920–1925. Sailing boats punctuate the lagoon before the outline of Venice, while cool, silvery colours shape this composition. Dintorni di Treviso, in the same collection, is painted in oils on a small wooden panel. Both works entered through the Giannoni donation of 1938, bringing together maritime horizons and the countryside familiar to the artist.

This profile brings together identity references for Beppe Ciardi and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
