The German illustrator and painter Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt develops a practice that turns towards animal engraving. Born in Leipzig in 1895, he dies in Munich in 1977.
He studies at the Weimar Academy of Fine Arts with Theodor Hagen and Lionel Feininger. After declining a chair in Weimar, he moves to Munich in 1918.
It is in Munich that he decides to devote himself entirely to animal engraving, giving the subject a central place in his work. His works have been published by the Hanfstaengl Publishing Company of Munich since 1917. In 1926, he presents at the “New Secession” what the notice describes as his last exhibition.
This profile brings together identity references for Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
