Edoardo Del Neri, born in Gorizia in 1890, learned artistic techniques within a family of painters and restorers. Printmaking became an early part of his practice: in 1912 he participated in the Italian woodcut exhibition at Levanto. After a stay in Munich and several journeys, he settled in Rome in 1914. Portraits, landscapes and press illustrations accompanied his interest in local dress and the Roman countryside. He subsequently moved closer to Novecento and joined the Roman printmakers' group GRIA. A journey to Tripolitania in 1925 added studies of North African landscapes and clothing to his repertoire. Working across painting, prints and applied arts, he transferred observed motifs between different techniques and uses of images. Del Neri died in Rome in 1932.
This profile brings together identity references for Edoardo Del Neri and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
