Heinz Kreutz

The German painter Heinz Kreutz, born in Frankfurt am Main on 31 December 1923 and died in Penzberg in 2016, worked in several disciplines, from painting to pottery. After classical studies, he learned photography; during the years he spent in hospital, he taught himself drawing and painting.
The entries also describe him as a watercolourist, pastellist and wood engraver, alongside his work as a painter. In 1952, he was among the founders of the Quadriga group in Frankfurt am Main, together with Karl Otto Götz, Otto Greis and Bernard Schultze. A work entitled «Komposition», dated 1964, attests to his use of pastel: the example described is signed and dated.
