Born in Paris in 1997, Jérémie Queyras explores relationships between painting and music. The son of cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, he grew up among professional musicians and developed a performance practice in which he paints live during musical interpretations, making the creation of a picture part of the concert itself.
On 19 March 2022 he appeared with his father and soloists from the Gürzenich Orchestra at Cologne’s Trinitatiskirche. Music by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Henri Dutilleux and Pierre Boulez accompanied the production of a large canvas. Entitled Ohne Titel (Pour l’Ukraine), this acrylic painting measures two by five metres and bears his signature and the concert date on its reverse. It was offered at auction to benefit aid for Ukraine.
This profile brings together identity references for Jérémie Queyras and paintings, drawings and works on paper documented in auction catalogues.
