Max Savy (1918–2010), a painter and illustrator born in Albi, connected his career with the Languedoc region and artistic education. A schoolteacher in Villepinte from 1941, he later taught drawing in Carcassonne, where the Musée des Beaux-Arts hosted his first exhibition in 1945. Rural life and landscapes filled with light became his preferred subjects, placing figures and their surroundings within a shared world of observation. From the 1960s his work circulated in galleries, followed by presentations in Paris and at the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi. A donation of eighty-one paintings to the Carcassonne museum in 2010, followed by an exhibition in 2012, gave a lasting institutional presence to these regional connections.
