Iran Darroudi brought together painting, writing and film. She studied painting in Paris, stained glass in Brussels and art history at the École du Louvre. Her imaginary landscapes present frozen or desert lands, where flowers, roots and stones meet luminous horizons. These motifs construct a mental space rather than describing a particular geographical location.
She exhibited in Miami in 1958 and later presented her work in Geneva and Zurich, among other cities. Her filmmaking included a documentary about the 1968 Venice Biennale, accompanying her interest in communicating art. She also taught art history. The autobiography Between Two Points added personal writing to a career in which the practice of painting continued to occupy a central position.
