Willi Behrndt
Born in 1919.
Died in 2013.
Willi Behrndt was an artist whose practice encompassed painting, printmaking and sculpture. His oeuvre is distinguished by still lifes, while landscapes are less frequent. In 1956, during his stay in Paris, he made a stylistic transition to Tachism, a movement characterised by a gestural and spontaneous approach to painting.
This development attests to an ongoing exploration and an adaptation to contemporary artistic currents.
