Waltensburger Meister
Born in 1300.
Died in 1350.
The Waltensburger Meister, active between the beginning of the fourteenth century and 1350, is recognised as a mural painter and the head of a workshop in northern Graubünden. The works attributed to him, particularly those at Brandis Castle in Maienfeld, attest to a stylistic and technical evolution characteristic of this period. The dates assigned to his works, although based on stylistic analyses, remain uncertain, allowing only an estimation of his activity between 1300 and 1350, notably at Rhäzüns.
