Vincent Blatter distinguished himself through his contributions as a man of letters, painter and poster artist. His work includes depictions of Valais, testifying to his attachment to the region. Blatter resided in Clarens in 1865, then in Sion from 1866 to 1879.
Alongside his artistic practice, he worked as a drawing teacher in Lausanne between 1871 and 1888. From 1888 onwards, he settled in Paris, where he continued his creative career. The details of his artistic legacy remain partly obscure, leaving room for interpretation.
