Ulrich Firabet

Ulrich Firabet was an artist from Rapperswil (SG), known for his work as a wood engraver and painter. He is the author of one of the earliest examples of a colour woodcut in Switzerland, a signed work probably dating from 1465 or 1466. Although his artistic activity is sparsely documented, it attests to an early mastery of printing and colour, thus marking a significant stage in the history of Swiss art.
