Sophie Burckhardt
Born in 1876.
Died in 1942.
Sophie Burckhardt was a painter recognised for her portraits of children. She is also known as the wife of Carl Buckhardt, a sculptor and painter. Although less well documented, her oeuvre bears witness to a particular sensitivity to themes of childhood, reflecting an era marked by social and artistic transformations.
Her relationship with her husband, who was also an artist, may have influenced her creative path, but the details of her career remain partially obscure.
