Rudolf Tanner

Rudolf Tanner was a history and genre painter. From 1807 onwards, he regularly took part in the exhibitions of the Society of Zurich Artists. He was the brother of Johann Jakob Tanner the Elder and the uncle of Johann Jakob Tanner the Younger, underscoring his family ties within the artistic milieu.
Although his contributions to painting are less well documented, they bear witness to a period in which art and culture were developing intensively in Switzerland.
