Rudolf Schwerter
Born in 1640.
Died in 1656.
Rudolf Schwerter was a painter whose activity is documented by façade work carried out in 1640 for the school in Brugg. In 1656, he made a copy of a work by Guido Reni depicting the Massacre of the Innocents, intended for the priory church of Weingarten in Feldkirch. Although brief, his career testifies to his involvement in significant artistic projects of his time.
Schwerter died in the same year as his last known work, leaving some uncertainty as to the extent of his artistic production.
