Robert Gardelle II, fils was an artist whose oeuvre distinguished itself in the fields of portraiture, landscape, and printmaking. Although he is primarily associated with Geneva, his activity extended to several European cities, notably Cassel, Berlin, Paris, Neuchâtel, Bern, and the Pays de Vaud. He belonged to a lineage of artists bearing the name Gardelle, testifying to a family tradition in the artistic field.
