The Ritz family, originally from Valais, is recognised for its involvement in the arts, particularly sculpture, altar construction and painting. The activities of this lineage of craftspeople extended over several generations, with a first group active in Selkingen between 1666 and 1771. A second group continued this tradition in Niederwald, where their presence is documented from 1796 to 1906.
This family’s contributions to Valais art remain of notable importance, although specific details concerning their individual works remain uncertain.
