Richard Aeschlimann
Born in 1944.
His activities also include working as a gallery owner. Since 1976, he has run the Maison des Arts Plexus in Chexbres with his wife Barbara, a venue that situates his career within a practice combining artistic creation and gallery activity. By 1981, he had been running the venue for several years when he exhibited his drawings at Galerie 2016 in Hauterive, as part of the group exhibition Étoiles Z’et toiles.
Drawing features in his publications from his earliest books: Sang titre was published by Éditions des Egraz in Yverdon-les-Bains in 1970, followed in 1973 by Le Regard géologue. Dessins, 1969-1972, published by L’Âge d’Homme in Lausanne. Published by the same publisher in 1999, L’Éternité d’un jour is presented as his ninth book.
Aeschlimann describes it as a logbook in which he records his “impressions of an amnesiac traveller through life”. His subsequent bibliography includes Petits miroirs des souvenirs ordinaires (2001), Czapski. Moments partagés (2010), Premier regard (2014) and Comme des larmes tombées du ciel (2015), all published by L’Âge d’Homme in Lausanne.
