Ramon Poveda Ibars is a Catalan painter rooted in a figurative tradition of oil painting. Trained at the Industrial School of Arts and Crafts in Sabadell, he developed a body of small- and medium-format work devoted to landscapes, harbours, fishing scenes, rural life, interiors and figures. His loose, colourful brushwork combines direct observation with a poetic realism.
His exhibition career took shape in the mid-1970s. The archives of the Fundació Bosch i Cardellach document him as winner of the first prize in the 1974 Concurs Social, followed by an exhibition at the Acadèmia de Belles Arts in Sabadell from 3 to 10 May 1975. In December 1980 he participated in the « Notes d’Art » exhibition at Galeries Rovira.
Market biographies subsequently record exhibitions in Vic, Valencia, Palafrugell, La Bisbal and Madrid and, from 1985 onward, regular presentations in La Escala, Platja d’Aro and Tossa de Mar.
Poveda favours oil on canvas, panel or board. Harbours and fishermen form a significant part of his production, as shown by « Zurciendo redes » and « Marina, puerto de pescadores, Barcelona », both dated 1977. His paintings continue to circulate regularly on the Spanish market.
In February 2025 Subarna sold « Alos d’Isil. Esterri d’Aneu » for EUR 100 and a group of two 1977 oils for EUR 200. Higher results have also been recorded for « Paisaje de Regencós » and « Port of Barcelona ».
The works by Ramon Poveda Ibars presented by Swiss Art Gallery extend this artistic journey and take their place naturally within this corpus.
