Pierre Jaques

Born in Yverdon in 1913, Pierre Jaques was a Swiss painter who trained in Geneva under Alexandre Blanchet. His work focused in particular on the landscapes of the Geneva basin and the Pays de Gex, while also addressing still life and portraiture. Two paintings depicting the Bois des Frères were acquired by the City of Vernier in 2006: their presence in a local public collection recalls his view of the familiar places of the Geneva region.

The Getty Research Institute establishes his identity under the name Pierre Jaques, with this spelling, his dates, and his training under Blanchet. The spelling variants encountered in certain catalogues require verification on a work-by-work basis.
