Pauline Boudry
Born in 1972.
Born in Lausanne in 1972, Pauline Boudry works as a duo with Renate Lorenz, a formation active in Berlin since 2007. Their practice enacts what criticism often refers to as “temporal drag” and queer archaeology, mobilising archives and intertwined temporalities.
These concerns with temporality and interpretation are manifested in Silent (2016), a film in which the performer Aérea Negrot interprets John Cage’s score 4'33''. Moving Backwards (2019) places dance at the heart of an installation that combines postmodern choreography and urban dance in order to interrogate practices of resistance and queer temporalities.
Earlier, Boudry co-organised the feminist exhibition Environ 27 ans in Geneva in 1997. Based in Berlin, the duo works across film, installation and performance, combining musical interpretation with spatial dispositifs. The works cited offer concrete entry points for grasping their approach, particularly their attention to modes of interpretation and the reactivation of archival temporalities.
