Paul Messerli

Born in 1899.

Died in 1987.

Paul Messerli was an artist whose œuvre is distinguished by its diversity. Initially a painter of figurative works, he devoted himself to the depiction of landscapes and portraits. From the 1950s onwards, his approach evolved towards abstraction, reflecting an adaptation to contemporary artistic currents.

As a representative of the Valais avant-garde, Messerli contributed to enriching the artistic landscape of his time, combining screen printing and illustration with his painterly practice.
