Paul Mathey

Born in 1891.

Died in 1972.

Paul Mathey was a painter whose work focuses on the landscapes around Geneva as well as still lifes. His artistic path led him to work as an assistant to Ferdinand Hodler in Geneva between 1916 and 1917, a period during which he developed his style. Raised in New York, his childhood in this American metropolis may have influenced his artistic sensibility.

The details of his career and stylistic development nevertheless remain only partially documented, leaving questions about his oeuvre as a whole.
